Posted: Updated:
A man is in custody, charged in the death of a woman found dead after a fire at her condo in Cedar Rapids.
Cedar Rapids police say Onyale Vantress Hughes, 43, is charged with 1st Degree Murder. He's accused of killing Robyn Furmanski back in March.
Furmanski's body was found after a fire in her condominium; police determined she was dead before the fire. Furmanski died from blunt force trauma, smoke inhalation and thermal injuries.
Officers say Hughes had prescriptions in Furmanski's name in his possession, and DCI says her blood was on his clothing.
On top of Murder charges, he's also charged with First Degree Arson and First Degree Robbery.
He's currently being held at the Tama County Jail.
