UPDATE: Construction worker in stable condition after falling through roof

Posted: Updated:

UPDATE: A construction worker is in stable condition tonight after falling through the roof of the Hostess Wonder Bread bakery in Waterloo.

His name has not been released at this time. Service Roofing says the man has been with the company for more than 31 years.

Andy Miller of Service Roofing released a statement saying, "We immediately notified the employee’s family and pulled all employees off the jobsite until the cause of this terrible situation can be evaluated and confirmed."

The statement continues saying, "We are leading an investigation into the facts surrounding this incident, and also meeting with additional structural engineers to get to the bottom of how and why this terrible accident occurred. It would be premature to comment on an on-going investigation, but we have been with the family, and all reports from hospital staff continue to confirm that he is in stable condition."

We reached out to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, or OSHA who say they are aware of this incident.

A construction worker was injured after falling through the roof at the historic Hostess Wonder Bread bakery building in Waterloo. Witnesses say he landed on the concrete floor.

This happened around 9:30 a.m. Monday morning.

His condition is unknown at this time. Other construction workers say he was conscious, but in a lot of pain after the fall.

The historic building is currently in the construction process to become a Single Speed Brewery location.

This is a developing story, we will keep you updated as more information is made available.
