DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - A man convicted of a hit-and-run that killed a Des Moines bicyclist has been imprisoned.

On Friday a Polk County district judge sentenced Jonathan Leyva Rodriguez to 34 years and ordered him to pay restitution of $150,000.

In May a jury found Leyva Rodriguez guilty on all six charges stemming from the Aug. 16 crash, including vehicular homicide, drunken driving and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death.

Prosecutors said Leyva Rodriguez's vehicle struck 41-year-old Gregary Wade Franck while the cyclist was participating in a local biking event. Franck was pronounced dead at a hospital.

A state criminalist testified that Leyva Rodriguez's blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit at the time of the crash.
