Summer camp for all abilities struggling financially this year

Posted: Updated:
CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -

A unique experience for all abilities.

Sportability of Iowa's 11th annual adapted sports camp is happening at University of Northern Iowa through Saturday.

The camp teaches nine sports in just four days, everything from tennis to rock climbing to basketball.

It focuses on teaching kids with lower limb physical challenges.

But this camp isn't just about sports, it's also about confidence.

"You see them say hey you know what I can do this and I can do what I want to do. You know the wheelchair doesn't define me. Doesn't limit me," staff member Vincen Liddle says.

This year the camp says they are struggling financially because they didn't get two grants they usually depend on.

The camp says they still did  have a lot of athlete and volunteers come out to help this summer.

They are reaching out to businesses and people who can help donate money.
