Flood Warning in effect in Black Hawk County

(KWWL) -

A flood warning is in effect in Black Hawk County. The Cedar River is rising, but for now, there are no major problems expected.

The president of the Waterloo Waste Management  say this is his first week on the job and this is a little overwhelming.

He's playing it safe, saying he is taking "precautionary measures." As a result, the city has closed four flood gates on the east side of the river and one on the west.

One flood gate that remains open is on Fletcher Avenue and will continue to stay open.

Storm Track 7 reports the river should rise to eighty-nine and a half feet in Cedar Falls. Cottage Row Road and Tourist Park are in the areas at risk.

Flooding should peak tomorrow afternoon in Cedar Falls. The president of Waterloo Waste Management says without rain, there should be no problems in Waterloo.
