Bike Parade and Safety Rodeo in Denver Saturday

Posted: Updated:

Bicycle safety meets family fun this weekend in Denver, with the Bike Rodeo on State Street scheduled for Saturday.

The event lines up with this year's Great Ride Around Bremer (GRAB) -- a 44-mile bike ride through several cities in Bremer County. The ride begins and ends in Waverly.

The Bike Rodeo parade will begin at noon on Saturday with a police escort down State Street through Denver. The event is free and open to everyone. Music, refreshments and a prize raffle are also planned during the event. Around 120 GRAB riders are expected in Denver between 1 and 2 p.m.

The Denver Diplomats say the aim of the event this weekend is to ensure that young riders and families are knowledgeable in bike safety -- including having up-to-date equipment and proper-fitting helmets.
