Zach Johnson tees off early for US Open

The second major of the PGA tour is tomorrow in Oakmont, Pennsylvania. Eastern Iowa's own Zach Johnson will be teeing off bright and early in the first round of the US Open.

Johnson's tee time is 8:35 eastern or 7:35 Iowa time as he begins his quest for a third career major golf championship....

According to Vegas --- World number one... Jason Day who won the 2015 PGA Championship is a slight favorite to win this year's u-s open while Rory McElroy, defending US open champion Jordan Spieth and Dustin Johnson are picked to finish in the top four.

Also today Zach Johnson made this big announcement on twitter about his annual Zach Johnson foundation event on June 27th.

Johnson said, "Zach Johnson foundation got a great group of guys.. Ricky Fowler, Jimmy Furyk.Patrick Rogers we have a couple girls coming. We are trying to get one more guy there are some rumors spreading those rumors might be true-- but a anyway-BOOM! We've got another one"

That's right Jordan Spieth will also be at the Zach Johnson event in 12 days...

    Just hours after landing in Taipei the Iowa baseball team got right down to business, posting a 10-5 win over the Czech National Team in an exhibition contest Thursday afternoon. The Hawkeyes, representing team USA at the World University Games, got a pair of 3-run home runs out of Robert Neustrom to clinch the victory.

    The Missouri Valley Conference exercised an option to keep the men's basketball tournament in Saint Louis through at least 2020. The previous agreement ended in 2018 with a two year to remain at the Scottrade Center. The tournament, known as Arch Madness, will conduct it's 30th straight tournament in Saint Louis in 2020.
