Peace vigil in honor of Orlando attack set in Waterloo

WATERLOO (KWWL) -

A peace vigil and march will be held in Waterloo in honor of Orlando's Club Pulse victims.

Americans for Democratic Action is hosting the event. It will take place tonight in Waterloo's Lincoln Park at 6:00.

The event will start with an hour long vigil and then participants will march down 4th street to Kings and Queens Club.

"My heart is full of sadness and rage that as people gathered to Celebrate LGBT pride month they were sent to their death by a lone gunman who hated them because of who they love. We cannot remain silent in the wake of such a hateful violence; we as Americans must own our problem with gun violence. It is time for policy makers of all stripes to stop with the excuses and start taking meaningful action," said Chris Schwartz, Organizer for Americans for Democratic Action.
