Rescue crew called to George Wyth

WATERLOO (KWWL) -

Rescue crews were called to George Wyth State Park around 3:00 p.m. Sunday.

According to witnesses, it appears the person or persons on a pontoon boat experienced a problem with the lower-unit of their motor, and their pontoon was drifting, and it couldn't be stopped.

As the pontoon started drifting on George Wyth, someone on the boat was able to grab a nearby tree branch and tie it in place while help arrived.

At last check, the rescue crew has located the pontoon near a park boat ramp, and everyone seems to be OK.

KWWL's Elizabeth Amanieh and Taylor Bailey are at George Wyth Park right now, and we hope to have more information as it becomes available.
