Power outages reported in Waterloo

Posted: Updated:
WATERLOO (KWWL) -

Mid-American Energy is working to restore power throughout Waterloo.

On Saturday afternoon, several customers and businesses were without power, and crews were working to fix the problem.

Several businesses were operating on back-up generators.

According to a Hy-Vee customer, power went out at the store near the Crossroads shopping center, came back on, and then it went back off for more than an hour.

Hy-Vee workers were doing everything in their power to save produce from going to waste, but their cashier stands and indoor lights were still working.

Several traffic lights in the area were not working, and Waterloo police officers were busy directing traffic.

As of 2:00 p.m. Saturday, power was restored to several homes, businesses, and traffic lights; but some places seem to be still without power.
