The Mahaska County Board of Supervisors has approved a plan to upgrade the county's law enforcement center.

The plan includes an expansion of public counter space in the Sheriff's Office, as well as the conversion of a closet into an office.

The new office will be used by the county's deputy emergency management coordinator.

The plan's third project will update to the center's call network switches, allowing all departments to access the call-taking system, as well as the state's network.

County Emergency Management Agency Director Jamey Robinson says the cost for all three projects will be just more than $9,000, and work will likely begin next week.
