Cedar Rapids asks for public feedback for zoning code update

Posted: Updated:
CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

Cedar Rapids is looking for public input through several open house events in coming months.

It's all a part of "ReZone Cedar Rapids," a comprehensive update of the city's zoning ordinance.

The ordinance includes rules for the use and development of land.

The first open house is scheduled for Wednesday, June 29th from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at CSPS Hall on 3rd Street SE.

Members of the public will be able to give feedback and learn more about the zoning process at the event.

ReZone Cedar Rapids is hoping to use that input in the updating process.

The updated code will provide information on how neighborhoods and commercial areas develop, and the activity allowed in each district.

The public will have opportunities to give more feedback through the next year while Cedar Rapids proceeds to adopt a new zoning code by the fall of 2017.
