Former UNI President honored

During the Iowa Board of Regents meeting in Ames, former UNI President Bill Ruud was honored for his service and time as president for the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls.

The former president recently resigned from to take another presidential position at a smaller school in Ohio.

President Ruud was given a plaque for his service, thanked the board for his time at UNI, and he was even still wearing the purple school colors.

During his report with the board, he commented on the tremendous amount of money he was able to help raise for scholarships.

President Ruud also discussed the improving enrollment at UNI.

At the end of his report, he told the board, "Iowa will always have a very special place in my heart, and I will get back as often as I can."

Board of Regents President Bruce Rastetter also thanked him for his service as University of Northern Iowa President.

Later Thursday, the Board of Regents will discuss the process of hiring President Ruud's replacement.
