Jake Wilson's disappearance had prompted a search involving the FBI, state and local police officers and hundreds of volunteers in La Porte City, a town of 2,300 in northeastern Iowa. A police chief says the remains were discovered this week by kayakers.

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - The economy is expected to continue growing slowly in rural parts of 10 Plains and Western states, but the ongoing trade disputes remain a concern. Creighton University economist Ernie Goss says grain prices have fallen even lower since the trade disputes erupted.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - An Iowa woman is suing a South Dakota surgeon and his practice for wrongly removing one of her kidneys. The lawsuit alleges the Sioux Falls doctor removed the woman's healthy right kidney instead of removing an adrenal gland and a mass on the gland in 2016. She eventually had a second surgery at a different hospital. The Argus Leader reports the woman says the erroneous surgery resulted in an incurable and progressive kidney disease her remaining kidney.

MASON CITY, Iowa (AP) - A former janitor accused of video recording people in a northern Iowa school staff restroom has been given 60 days in jail. Court records say David Bemis, of Mason City, also was sentenced Wednesday to a year of probation and fined $1,260. Bemis pleaded guilty to four counts of invasion of privacy. Investigators say Bemis was working at Clear Creek Elementary in Clear Lake in May 2013 when he hid a camera in the restroom and recorded four school employees in varying degrees of nudity.
