CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

The Cedar Rapids Kernels, a Minnesota Twins affiliate, spreads awareness for Lou Gehrig's Disease on Friday night.

Lou Gehrig's disease, commonly known as ALS, is a motor neuron degenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord.

The Kernels players will be wearing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle themed jerseys during the game. After, the jerseys will be auctioned off, with all proceeds going to the ALS Association Iowa Chapter.

This is the fourth year in a row that the Kernels are hosting the jersey auction to benefit the ALS Association.

The game begins at 6:35pm at the Veterans Memorial Stadium in Cedar Rapids.
