Posted: Updated:

The focus will be on Iowa's amazing recreational trails when The University of Northern Iowa hosts the 7th annual Iowa Trails Summit Friday, June 17.

The summit will take place at UNI's Center for Energy & Environmental Education, 1227 West 27th Street in Cedar Falls. A $45.00 registration fee includes lunch, parking and snacks.

It's an 8 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. event, which highlights Iowa Trails, new and older, through several speakers and panel discussions.

The 7th Annual Iowa Trails Summit brings together a diverse group of people - from great thinkers and experts at connecting people and ideas, to people that share a passion for outdoor recreation, our natural environment, and community development.

This award-winning event, recognized by the National Park Service’s Mid America Trails & Greenways for its unique approach, features a power-packed group of experts sharing their experiences, innovations and ideas for connecting people and enriching lives.

There will be special presentations on new trails attractions from all corners of Iowa, trails groups and trails supporters sharing information, and plenty of opportunities for networking, meeting new people, and sharing ideas.

Featured speakers include John Edward Terrell, A.B., A.M., Ph.D. (Harvard), Author & Regenstein Curator of Pacific Anthropology at the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago and Dr. Richard Deming, medical director of Mercy Cancer Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

The registration deadline is June 7, 2016.

'The Iowa Boy,' former Des Moines Register writer and trails advocate, Chuck Offenburger, will serve as Master of Ceremonies.
