Attempted Abduction

Posted: Updated:

A quiet afternoon at the pool turns scary for an 11-year-old girl.

"He had a hundred dollar bill and he says I'll give you a hundred dollar bill and she says why would you do that and he says I'll give you that if you come give me a hand," said Diane Deutmeyer, mother.

Anna Deutmeyer's mother says her daughter was approached by a man she didn't know in a silver car. When the man came up to her, she knew something wasn't right.

It all happened on the corner of Elizabeth Street and N. Earl Street in Earlville. Anna was on her normal way home from the pool and a man stopped her in his vehicle.

Anna tells KWWL that the man has black curly hair, in his mid thirties and was wearing a plaid shirt.

"Growing up in this little town I would have never thought anything like this were to happen so it just makes me feel very nervous and I just hope they catch the guy who did it," said Katiyln Deutmeyer, Anna's sister.

Police are reviewing surveillance tape trying to identify the man Anna saw. In the meantime, Anna and her family say they'll be more cautious in their small town.

"I really hope all the parents watch their kids when they come home now because I think that guy is still out there," said Katiyln.
