Wartburg's Kladivo becomes high jump All-American

WAVERLY (KWWL) -

Kailey Kladivo got it done on her final go-around. The Wartburg senior jumped a career best five feet, eight inches in the high jump to finish fourth at the Division III National Track Meet on Friday.

Kladivo's trip to the podium was her first, and she did it in her final meet.

"You have to have a sort of mental toughness I think to get through high jump and I just knew that I had it in me," said Kladivo, "I made little tweeks that coach said to make and came out on top."

Wartburg is guaranteed another All-American on Saturday as senior Erica Dynes qualified for the womens' 100 meter finals, earning the 6th qualifying spot by running 12.01 seconds in the preliminaries.

Zach Frey of Loras will be an All-American for the second straight year. Frey, who finished 6th in the 800 in 2015, once again qualified for the final running 1:50.92 seconds, the fifth fastest time in the preliminaries.
