WATERLOO (KWWL) -

Cedar Falls scored early and often, cruising to a 6-1 victory over Mason City in the 4A substate soccer opener.

Luke Loughren opened the scoring. A Tiger free kick lofted in the box as Loughren found it with his head putting it in to the back of the net. Cedar Falls scored again less than 2 minutes later as a shot deflected off a Mason City defender right to Ben Kippes who put it home. Adrian Diaz added a third first half goal, faking out the keeper before easily tapping the ball into the net.

The Tigers went on to outscore the Mohawks 3-1 in the second half to secure the victory.

Cedar Falls will play at Linn-Mark in a substate semifinal on Wednesday.
