Coed State Track Day 2, Session 2

The late session on the blue oval saw a late charge from Nathan Hoy of Cedar Falls - the Tiger junior went from 3rd to 1st over the final 50 of the 4-hundred hurdles - edging Isaiah Nemmers of Cedar Rapids Washington for the title.

It's being competitive. I always like that last 50 meters, so I don't know, just wanted to come in first. It was good.

The Tigers also grabbed a runner up spot in the distance medley finishing second behind West Des Moines Dowling -

Western Dubuque's William Blaser launched the shot 60 feet, 2 and 3 quarter inches - but it was just shy of Cedar Rapids Kennedy's Dalles Jacobes who went 60 feet 6 inches for the title -

The Cougars nearly got another in the long jump with Shaun Beyer's leap of 22 feet 10 inches, but Dubuque Senior's DeAngelo Jackson snatched the top spot for the second straight year going 23 feet, 7 inches -

"It means a lot. I worked really hard to get this far, and I deserve it."

In the 1-A girls discus - MacKenzie Goeller of Wapsie Valley added on to her shot put title from yesterday - with a winning discus throw of 134 feet, 10 inches -

and once again the blue oval - was torn up by Jasmine Blue of Cedar Rapids Jefferson - the senior - now part of 4 of the top 5 4 by 2-hundred teams in state history - did it again - anchoring the J-Hawks to another 4A title -

It was a bum day for here my freshman year. I did run on state championship relays, but I didn't know a thing. I feel like I've grown a lot more. I'm just so happy to be on 4 state championship teams and all-time best teams. It's awesome.
