Under blue skies - the blue oval of Drake heated up Thursday with one of the best 4-A girls 3-thousand races in state history -

Stephanie Jenks - a 3 time champ in the race - avenged her Drake loss to Pleasant Valley's MacKenzie Yanek running 9 minutes, 33 seconds - the 6th best time in the country, to go a perfect 4 for 4 in the race.

Just being able to come out and win this all 4 years in a row it's just a feeling I can't explain. It's just so great.

In the class 1A 3-thousand - AGWSR's Bethany Lippert captured the runner up spot -

While Wapsie Valley's MacKenzie Goeller, coming off shoulder surgery last year - went 40 feet, 2 inches in the shot put to take top honors.

While Central Elkader rolled in the 1-A 4 by 8-hundred - senior Haley Schroeder anchored the Warriors home in 9 minutes, 44 seconds for the win.

We've been waiting for this year since our freshman year and we had a couple of great underclassmen that helped us pull through this year and I couldn't ask for a better way to end it.

In the 4-A 4-hundred - Linn-Mar Peyton Wensel went under 56 seconds to go back to back in the race.

On the boys side - the Cedar Falls duo of Isaac Smith and Sam Schillinger finished 2nd and 3rd behind Dowling's Ryan Schweizer in the 4-A 3200 meters -

while the Tigers grabbed another runner-up finish in the 4 by 8-hundred with Hunter Lavallee finishing just behind Waukee at the tape.

Jackson Coker of Cedar Rapids Kennedy took the 4-A discus with a throw of 180 feet, 6 inches

In the 1-A race - it was Highland Riverside's Keiffer Sexton edging out Lisbon's Reid Smock for the first track title in school history

To be a part of that means a lot, because it shows how much I've worked hard and the rewards I've gotten for it by putting in the effort to win.

Rounding out the day - Cedar Rapids Prairie's Jalen Rima took the 4A 4-hundred meters while

Jesup's Ethan Wyant edged Jack Butteris of Lisbon - going under 50 for a 1-A 400 title.
