IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

Iowa used a 3-run first inning as a springboard as the Hawkeyes topped Michigan State 5-1 on Senior Day at Duane Banks field.

The Hawks opened the scoring on a base hit from Nick Roscetti that squirted past the left fielder all the way to the wall allowing Tyler Peyton to score while Roscetti circled the bases for a second run. Joel Booker later scored from third as Mason McCoy got caught in a rundown between first and second.

McCoy later knocked in two more on a base hit to center in the fifth inning.

Ryan Erickson captured the win pitching 4 innings in relief.
