Black Hawks fall 3-0 to Tri-City in game 3

WATERLOO (KWWL) -

The Waterloo Black Hawks fired off 41 shots, but none reached the back of the net as Tri-City picked up the shutout 3-0. The win gave the Storm a 2-1 lead in the best of 5 series.

Tri-City scored the opening goal on a flurry in front of the net that saw Cale Morris make a pair of sprawling saves, but the third attempt by Wade Allison beat Morris for a 1-0 lead. The Storm added another in the second period as Joe Cippalone posted up behind the net and fed Max Humitz in front for a 2 goal lead. Jake Wahling added an empty net goal in the final minute to round out the scoring.

Morris stopped 24 of the 26 shots he faced. Jake Kielly earned his second shutout of the series for Tri-City with 41 saves.

    Just hours after landing in Taipei the Iowa baseball team got right down to business, posting a 10-5 win over the Czech National Team in an exhibition contest Thursday afternoon. The Hawkeyes, representing team USA at the World University Games, got a pair of 3-run home runs out of Robert Neustrom to clinch the victory.

    The Missouri Valley Conference exercised an option to keep the men's basketball tournament in Saint Louis through at least 2020. The previous agreement ended in 2018 with a two year to remain at the Scottrade Center. The tournament, known as Arch Madness, will conduct it's 30th straight tournament in Saint Louis in 2020.
