Black Hawks drop Lincoln in double overtime to clinch series

Posted: Updated:

Ronnie Hein scored on a breakaway at the 9:32 mark of the second overtime as Waterloo took down Lincoln 4-3. The game 4 win clinched the best of 5 series in the Black Hawks favor, advancing the team to the Western Conference Final against Tri City.

The two squads sat tied 1-1 after the first period. Ryan Lohin tallied the Waterloo goal. The Black Hawks briefly took an advantage in the second period as Mikey Anderson scored a short handed goal off the rebound of his own shot. Lincoln responded with a pair of quick goals for a 3-2 advantage until Sam McCormick scored late in the second to tie the game at 3. That was the last goal for more than 50 minutes as Lincoln's Peyton Jones and Waterloo's Cale Morris stopped everything that came their way.

Finally, Hein got the job done. An errant Lincoln pass ricocheted off one of their own skaters and in to the Waterloo zone where Hein picked it up and fired a top shelf goal past Jones for the game winner.

Morris tallied an impressive 49 saves to pick up the victory in net.
