Black Hawks drop Lincoln 4-3 for 2-1 series edge

Posted: Updated:

The Waterloo Black Hawks took an early lead Saturday night, never game it up and took down Lincoln 4-3. The victory gave the Black Hawks a 2-1 advantage in the best of 5 Western Conference semifinal.

Waterloo drew first blood as Ronnie Hein's shot rebounded right to the stick of Nick Swaney who swatted it through the pads of Peyton Jones. Swaney later returned the favor passing from the corner to Hein in front of the net for a 2-0 advantage. Lincoln's Trevor Hamilton scored at the 16:26 mark as the Black Hawks would hold a 2-1 advantage at intermission.

In the second, Waterloo's Zach Yon fired a wrister past Jones from the left circle for a 3-1 edge. After Lincoln tallied a goal to pull back within one, Ryan Lohin scored what would turn out to be the game winning goal with 4:25 left in the period.

Cale Morris was busy in net for the Black Hawks stopping 38 of 41 Lincoln shots.

Waterloo can close out the series when they host game 4 on Sunday afternoon in Young Arena.
