Xavier defeats Wahlert 62-57, captures 3A crown

DES MOINES (KWWL) -

Cedar Rapids Xavier defeated Dubuque Wahlert 62-57 in a back and forth affair to capture the 3A boys' basketball title. The victory stopped Wahlert's attempt at a 3-peat while giving the Saints their first boy's basketball championship in school history.

Cedar Rapids Xavier erased a 4 point deficit early in the 4th quarter to rally for the victory.

Jackson Joens led the way for Xavier with 18 points on 5 of 7 shooting. Mitchell Burger added 16 in the win.

Cordell Pemsl led the way for Wahlert with 15 points and 13 rebounds.
