Number 5 Kee drops 14th ranked Lynnville-Sully to advance to state

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -

Kee High held off Lynnville-Sully 61-58 in overtime as the Keehawks advanced to the Girls' State Basketball Tournament for the first time in school history.

Freshman Makayla Walleser led the way for Kee with 17 points in the victory.

Kee led late in regulation, but Lynnville-Sully managed to tie the game late from the fee throw line, forcing overtime with a 47-47 tie. Kee would get field goals from Walleser and Ashley Schwarthoff to take a 4 point overtime lead. The Keehawks hit well from the free throw line down the stretch to hold Lynnville-Sully at bay.

Kee (22-2) will open the state tournament against Burlington Notre Dame (23-1) on Monday, February 29.
