UNI Downs Evansville, Wins Third In A Row 57-54

It's officially a streak, the UNI Panthers (13-11) hung on to take down the Evansville Aces who were second in the Missouri Valley Conference 57-54 Wednesday night.  The Panthers made only six field goals in the second half but made them count, with just under five minutes to play and trailing by one Wes Washpun threw down a monster dunk to give the Panthers a one point lead.  The next time down the court Matt Bohannon drained a three ball to give UNI a 52-50 lead.  Jeremy Morgan blocked a final shot attempt from the Aces to secure the win, Washpun lead the Panthers with 14 points, Bohannon pitched in with 13.  But the Panthers were most impressed with their defensive play, "It says a lot about how far we've come." Said Washpun  "we've given up a lot of points in certain games this year we all came together and put a bigger emphasis on the defensive end and some of the younger guys are starting to buy in more and starting to buy into the team defense aspect. "  Next up for the Panthers a trip to Drake on Sunday
