UPDATE W/ NAME: Police in Muscatine, Iowa are investigating an officer involved shooting.

On Friday, January 15th, at about 10:08 p.m., a Blue 2008 Hummer was reported stolen from the Guadalajara Restaurant parking lot at 208 E. 2nd Street, Muscatine. About thirty minutes later, a Muscatine County Sheriff’s Deputy located the vehicle on Hwy 61.

The officer stopped the vehicle, with the help of the Muscatine Police Department in the Pearl City Inn/Best Western on Cleveland Avenue.

They say Timothy Seefeldt, 41, then tried to leave the scene in the stolen Hummer, hitting several vehicles parked in the hotel lot, including an officer’s vehicle.

Several shots were fired by law enforcement and Seefeldt suffered a single gunshot wound to his upper torso area.

He was transported to the University of Iowa Hospital. His injuries are non-life threatening.

Preliminary reports indicate only the deputy discharged his duty weapon. Per protocol, the names of the deputy and police officer will not be released until they have been interviewed. Additional information will be released when it becomes available.

The Muscatine Police Department, the Iowa State Patrol, and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation are investigating the incident.
