BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) -- The Oscar nominees for best picture have been announced in Beverly Hills, California. They are: "The Big Short," "Bridge of Spies," "Brooklyn," "Mad Max: Fury Road," "The Martian," "The Revenant," "Room" and "Spotlight."

The Oscar nominees for actor are: Bryan Cranston, "Trumbo," Matt Damon, "The Martian"; Leonardo DiCaprio, "The Revenant"; Michael Fassbender, "Steve Jobs"; and Eddie Redmayne, "The Danish Girl."

The nominees for supporting actress are: Jennifer Jason Leigh, "The Hateful Eight"; Rooney Mara, "Carol"; Rachel McAdams, "Spotlight"; Alicia Vikander, "The Danish Girl"; and Kate Winslet, "Steve Jobs."

The nominees for best supporting actor are: Christian Bale, "The Big Short"; Tom Hardy, "The Revenant"; Mark Ruffalo, "Spotlight"; Mark Rylance, "Bridge of Spies"; Sylvester Stallone, "Creed."

The nominees for best animated film are: "Anomalisa," "Boy and the World," "Inside Out," Shaun the Sheep Movie" and "When Marnie Was There."
