A clipper system will be tracking through the area Friday, which means increasing clouds tonight with a wind turning to the northwest.  Lows tonight will be in the 20s, which means roadways could become slick due to any melting snow refreezing.  Be cautious especially an bridges and overpasses.  We may warm a few degrees on Friday, but as that clipper tracks through, temperatures will fall throughout the afternoon with a blustery northwest wind 10-20 mph.  There could also be a few light snow showers or flurries with accumulation ranging from a dusting to a couple tenths of an inch.

The bitter cold settles back in across eastern Iowa and much of the Midwest for the weekend.  Highs in Saturday will be in the single digits and lower teens, with temperatures dipping well below zero for Saturday night.  Highs on Sunday may not even reach 0° across the northern half of the viewing area.

It will also be a bit breezy throughout the weekend, creating dangerous wind chills between -20° to -30°.  With those types of conditions, frostbite can occur in less than 30 minutes, so you'll want to cover up any exposed skin if you have to spend any amount of time outdoors this weekend.
