IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

The University of Iowa is apologizing to students who were sent acceptance letters to the College of Law by mistake.

Acceptance letters were sent on January 6th and a letter explaining the mistake was sent on January 8th.

We asked the University to comment on the mishap and they sent us the following statement:

"The University of Iowa would like to apologize to 20 students who mistakenly received acceptance letters for fall 2016 to the College of Law due to an error by the Enrollment Management Operations Office. When the university learned of the mistake it immediately sent letters of apologyclarifying the situation. While the error was discovered and corrected within a few days, we are deeply sorry for the confusion and disappointment it may have caused. We will be reviewing our notification process to work to ensure this does not happen again."
