DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

The Dubuque Regional Airport has seen an increase in passenger travel.

2015 had an overall increase of 7 percent, as compared to 2014.

“We believe the successful growth is a combination of many things, but primarily is the result of the people from Dubuque and the tri-state area choosing DBQ for their travel needs. Airport growth adds to and reflects the economic vibrancy of Dubuque and all the surrounding communities," said Robert Grierson, airport manager.

The airport is continually meeting with American Airlines, its only carrier, to expand air service.

The targets are south and west, such as Dallas and Denver.
