UPDATE: Arrest Made in Cedar Falls Bank Robbery

Posted: Updated:

New details in a local bank robbery.
Police say they have made an arrest in the robbery at the First National Bank in Cedar Falls on White Tail Drive.

Jon Robert Ellingson, 26, of Cedar Falls has been charged with 2nd Degree Robbery.

New security video showing the suspect arriving and leaving the area in no hurry at all.

At 1:38 p.m., the suspect in a purple UNI jacket and ski mask strolls through the parking lot of the attached gas station.
The same man can be seen in photos released by police from inside the First National Bank Cedar Falls.

The man did not show a weapon during the robbery and no one was hurt.
He did however make off with a significant amount of cash.

Less than 2 minutes later, the man reappears on security cameras walking away from the area, now carrying a plastic bag.
He then headed across the street.

Police spent most of the afternoon searching that area.
"State Trooper, I believe, and two Cedar Falls Police, I saw for sure. Then shortly after a few more came over here," said Derek Ellefson, a cashier working at the attached gas station.

Police searched the inside of the Thunder Ridge Court for quite awhile.

One witness says, he saw the man casually walking through a hallway of the court. The man was covered from head to toe in a mask and winter gear. He then exited the building through the south entrance.

Authorities continued to search the area late into the afternoon and marked off foot prints in the snow that lead away from the bank and towards the Thunder Ridge Court as evidence.

Another witness tells us authorities were investigating a bag of money found at a near by apartment complex.
At this time-  the police chief will not confirm if this was connected to the robbery
