Thousands of Hawkeye fans leave for Rose Bowl

Iowa fans have been filtering in to the Cedar Rapids Airport to head to the Rose Bowl and cheer on their Hawkeyes.

The largest charter flying out today will carry 470 fans from snowy Iowa to sunny Pasadena.

Fans are excited, in fact there were some that flew out at 5 this morning.

Many other flights full of fans where scheduled throughout the day.

"Oh a Hawkeye victory, is that even a question? We are all excited," said Christine Summers, a Hawkeye fan.

Fans sported their Hawkeye black and gold from custom Rose Bowl jackets to fingernails.

Beer sampling was going on for the fans as they waited to hop on their flights.

A dog was available to pet and relieve stress as they stood in line.

The excitement is not only for the football game, but for all things Rose Bowl.

 "Anxious to see the parade we're going to the Rose Bowl parade also," said Rose Frahm, a Hawkeye fan.

Thirteen different charters planned to fly out of the Cedar Rapids Airport today, with the last flight of the day taking off at 8:30 p.m.

More than 3,000 flans plan to fly out of Cedar Rapids for the game.
