Man killed in grain bin accident in Benton county

UPDATE: The victim of the grain accident was identified as Alan Keith Kimm, age 56 from Keystone, Iowa. 


UPDATE: A 56-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene of a grain accident in Keystone, IA. 

The victim was vacuuming grain into a semi at a grain storage facility in Keystone at approximately 2:45 p.m. today. 

It is believed that a wall of corn surrounded him while he was vacuuming, and collapsed covering the victim. 

Responders from Keystone Fire and First Responders, Van Horne Fire and First Responders, Belle Plaine Ambulance, Benton County Sheriff's Office, Life Guard Helicopter from Cedar Rapids and numerous local volunteers worked for a half hour to free him from the corn. 

The man's name is being withheld. 


A man has died after being trapped in a grain bin on 98 Railroad St. in Keystone, Ia. 

The accident happened around 2:43 this afternoon.
