Early Star Wars: Episode VII showings sell out

Posted: Updated:

Star Wars: Episode VII fans turn out in Waterloo.

With more than 25 showings at the Crossroads Theater, theater workers said they planned to accommodate everyone lining up to watch the new movie.

Some people said they planned to watch the movie twice.

By noon, tickets to early shows sold out.

Star Wars fan, Mike Sprague, said he felt lucky he was able to buy a ticket to a later show.

"The line is going to be terrible for the 8 o'clock show as well. So, I knew there would be a lot of people coming out to see it, and we just thought since we were in town, we would get some tickets, and I would surprise my wife," Sprague said.

Due to the amount of people expected to attend the showing of the Star Wars Movie, Waterloo Police say they intend to have police officers patrolling the area, just in case something happens.

"I'm sure there will be quite a crowd of people dressed up in full costumes  to come to the show," Sprague said.

Mike's daughter, Sarah, recently started watching the Star Wars movies, and she said she was looking forward to seeing all the costumes.

"It's actually fun to wait in line. Seeing all the people and crazy and excited to be here. So, coming into the theatre will be fun, because you'll get to see everybody," Sprague said.

The show started at 7:00 p.m. and showings are scheduled as late as 4:00 a.m. Friday.
