UNI launching national search for new athletic director

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -

The University of Northern Iowa is launching a national search for a new athletic director.

The university has appointed a committee to conduct the search, with Michael Hager, senior VP of finance and operations serving as chair.

Other members of the community include Jerry Harris, former UNI student athlete and current COO of Western Home Communities, Jan Bittner, retired UNI volleyball coach and member of the UNI Foundation Board, Tatiana Rice, current UNI student athlete, Tanya Warren, UNI women's basketball head coach, John Fritch, dean of the College of Humanities, Arts and Sciences, Elaine Eshbaugh, NCAA faculty athletics representative, and Lisa Baronio, VP for university advancement.

Jean Berger is currently serving as interim athletic director, replacing Troy Dannen, who is leaving UNI to be the athletic director at Tulane University in New Orleans.
