UPDATE: Waterloo Police informed us an anonymous person donated Christmas lights to Marilyn. The lights are exactly the same as the ones that were stolen.

Marilyn says she is overjoyed and grateful for all the kind people in the community.

Laser lights are this season's most popular Christmas light display across the United States, but they are also catching the attention of thieves.

"Christmas is my favorite time of the year with my great grand-kids and grand-kids and everything," says 75-year-old Marilyn Walther.

And to show it, Marilyn got laser lights to decorate her home.

"I had a set of the green and red ones on the house and then at the doorway, I had the blue and white snowflakes and everybody said they were beautiful," she said.

But come sundown, those lights won't be shining, someone stole them from her front yard.

"I was so upset I cried and I couldn't do anything all day and it's crazy because it's just a set of lights ...but it was different. It's a different set of lights and they were just fantastic," she says.

Marilyn says she likes Christmas lights because they remind her of her late husband.

"One year we were on TV for the best lit up house and stuff and it was gorgeous what he did, I'll never be able to do it like he did but I at least thought this was a remembrance of him."

But her lights are now gone.

"Every place is sold out of them" she says.

And sadly, Marilyn says it's going to stay that way this year.

" I'm just sick about it. I'm not putting anything else up this year, you know you should be able to put up what you want at Christmas."

Waterloo Police are looking into this.
