DES MOINES (KWWL) -

More than 1200 people are joining Iowa Governor Terry Branstad to honor his record-breaking 20 years in office.

As of Monday, December 14, Branstad has served 20 years and 11 months in office.

Hundreds gathered at his event at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines, including governors from other states, like Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker.

Branstad is currently in his 6th four-year term with a record of 19-0; he's won every election he's taken part in.

The governor was first elected in 1982 at 35 years old, making him Iowa's youngest-serving governor as well.

At his event Monday, all the proceeds from tickets as well as his recently-written biography will go to his charity, the Governor Terry Branstad Iowa History Fund.

The fund is a non-profit dedicated to promoting and preserving Iowa history.
