(KWWL) -
Texas Senator Ted Cruz is pulling more support from Iowa voters, getting his first lead in any early state poll of the 2016 cycle.
The poll released Monday by Monmouth University of likely Iowa Republican caucus goers find that Cruz is holding the top spot over Donald Trump.
The poll finds Sen. Ted Cruz holds 24% support, Donald Trump has 19%, Sen. Marco Rubio with 17%, Dr. Ben Carson with 13%, Jeb Bush has 6%, Sen. Rand Paul is at 4%, Carly Fiorina has 3%, Gov. John Kasich has 3%.
The poll suggests former supporters of Dr. Carson are switching their support to Cruz; two months ago Dr. Carson topped the polls, but since his support has dropped 19%.
