Today, Japan attempted to place a probe into orbit around Venus five years after falling short the first time.

The probe, called Akatsuki, failed to enter into orbit in December 2010 due to problems with its main engine.

Japan aerospace exploration agency, or Jaxa, fire the probe's smaller thrusters for about 20 minutes to get the craft into place.

Jaxa will know on Wednesday, whether the probe entered orbit. If successful, the probe will circle the planet for two years monitoring its air and weather.
