Project Linus spreading blankets of warmth & comfort

DYERSVILLE (KWWL) -

It's a gift of warmth and comfort.

"So we're making tie blankets for sick kids in the hospitals," said 9-year-old Cambrie Ling.

Members of the Dyersville community -- old and young -- have come together to make tie fleece blankets for local children who are sick, have experienced trauma or loss.

It's an effort that's near and dear to Cambrie's heart. "My dad had cancer and he got a tie blanket when he was in the hospital so that's how we got into making the tie blankets."

This is her third year being involved with the organization Project Linus...blanket making day. "It's actually really fun, but then I feel really sad because of all the kids that are sick so that's why we made these."

Organizers say their goal is to make and collect two hundred handmade blankets this holiday season, which will be given to area hospitals, clinics and agencies to distribute.

"Basically we're saying we see you, we care about you, and this is our way of showing our support," said coordinator of Project Linus, Jill Kluesner.

As for Cambrie, she wants the recipients to know...they're not forgotten.  "We care for you and we're praying for you when you're sick," she said.
