WATERLOO (KWWL) -

After two years of extremely bothersome construction, Kimball Avenue in Waterloo is finally free.

Crews removed cones from the street Thursday, bringing it back to two lanes -- which is making business owners happy.

LJ's Bar and Grill has been dealing with the mess for the past two years, and they're a 10-year resident of Kimball Avenue.

Lyle and Jan Pratt, owners of the bar, say the construction hit their business hard.

When the construction went up, it was like their first year of business all over again.

"The second year wasn't as bad because not as many intersections were closed, but it's still been pretty tough," said Jan Pratt.

The Pratts say although some customers stayed loyal, it was tough to convince people to drive through the mess.

The end of the construction is a sigh of relief and for the Pratts, a Christmas miracle.
