ALLISON (KWWL) -

Around 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, the mother of Ethan Weitzenkamp said the teen was found safe, after missing for more than a week.

Jamie Weitzenkamp posted on our KWWL Facebook page, saying " ETHAN IS FOUND SAFE!!!!!!! I'm so happy to say we received a call late last night that Ethan was found safe in St. Paul, MN. We are on our way home with him now. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!"

The teen was missing for more than a week.

We will keep you updated as more information becomes available.

A teen missing for nearly a week. One local family is left without answers.

KWWL's Jessica Hartman meeting with the parents of 17 year old Ethan Weitzenkamp.

Ethan was last seen Thanksgiving night making plans with his family for Black Friday shopping. The next morning he was gone.
His parents later found a note saying he needed to start a new life, but they say that just isn't Ethan.

"I want you home bud," said Chad Weitzenkamp, Ethan's father.

A student at North Butler High School and just days away from starting his senior year of wrestling.
Ethan Weitzenkamp gave no signs he was unhappy or thinking of leaving home.

"That's when it started. We knew there was something wrong when he missed wrestling practice that morning because he loves wrestling, he loves his teammate, loves his coach. So that's when we knew something was wrong," said Ethan's mother, Jamie Weitzenkamp.

Ethan was reported missing nearly a week ago. It's not known why the Butler County Sheriff's Department waited until today to release that information to the public. I've reached out to the Sheriff, but he is out of state and his Chief Deputy is out for the day. Leaving us wondering why it took so long.

"I think that we were all just hoping for the best. A couple days away and somebody would see him or he would come home. But then, as time goes on, certainly its not getting any easier; its getting harder," said Jamie.

Because there has been no sign of Ethan's unique car, a gold 2003 Mitsubishi Galant with skull decals, they are worried he may be in trouble.

And with the holidays just around the corner, "We love you and so many people love you. So many people care about you and we can't imagine spending the holidays without you," said Jamie.

"I want you home bud," said Chad.

A Volunteer organized search for Ethan will be taking place Thursday and Friday.

If you have any information the Butler County Sheriff's Department has asked that you call 911.
