IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

Kirk Ferentz has been named the Big Ten Coach of the year by both the media and conference coaches.

The honor is the 4th of his Iowa coaching career, only former Michigan coach Bo Schembechler (6-time honoree) has more in conference history. Ferentz previously earned the award in 2002, 2004, and 2009.

Overall Ferentz is tied for 7th in Big Ten career victories (76) and ranks 8th in total wins (127).

This year's team has reached the 12-0 mark for the first time in school history as Iowa will play in their first every Big Ten Championship game versus Michigan State on Saturday.
