IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

Iowa's Desmond King earned the title of Big Ten Defensive Back of the Year as the conference handed out defensive awards on Monday night.

King's 8 interceptions this season tied a school record and is currently tied for most in the country. The junior's most notable pick came against Maryland after which King rumbled 88 yards for a touchdown. He's currently a finalist for the Jim Thorpe Award given annually to the nation's top defensive back.

King was also named to the first team All-Big Ten Squad by both the media and coaches, with the media making him a unanimous selection.
