Shoppers going online for holiday deals before Cyber Monday

Posted: Updated:

The Monday after Thanksgiving -- people will be back to their normal routines...but with many online shopping.

"You can sit at home, drink your cup of coffee.  I ordered things this morning and, you know...that's easy," said Luann Putz of Colesburg.

Known as Cyber Monday -- retailers roll out online holiday deals -- and people shop for the best ones, but many aren't waiting for Monday to roll around for those deals anymore.

"Clothes, I usually buy some clothes.  I bought jewelry...quite a bit of jewelry this year and uh, boots, things like that,"added Putz.

Nowadays, people can shop anytime, anywhere...even from a retailers mobile app.

For example, Amazon will only be offering some deals through their app starting Sunday night.

And instead of a Cyber Monday -- Target has Cyber Week.

With people ditching crowded stores to conveniently shop online, experts say Black Friday sales are down over one billion dollars this year, compared to last year.

Shoppers admit, they still enjoy holiday shopping...the traditional way.

"Oh, I enjoy it...everybody is friendly," said Putz.

Some tips for those who do plan on doing some online shopping on Monday -- experts say you should use prepaid debit or credit cards.  Also, don't shop while using public wi-fi.

Those tips will help  limit the risk of identity theft.
