Hawkeyes Drop to 4th in AP Poll

Posted: Updated:

The Associated Press released their latest college football ranking, and the Iowa Hawkeyes dropped to 4th in in the nation, behind Oklahoma, Alabama, and top ranked and undefeated Clemson.

The Hawkeyes were ranked 3rd in last week's polls, but were leapfrogged by the Oklahoma Sooners, who toppled 9th-ranked Oklahoma State, and officially laid claim to the 2015 Big 12 conference title.

The Hawkeyes defeated the Nebraska Cornhuskers to finish off the first undefeated season in program history, and will play this Saturday against Michigan State in the Big Ten title game in Indianapolis.

The 12-0 Hawkeyes also remain at fourth place in the Coaches Poll, in which they received one first place vote.

The newest College Football Playoff rankings will be released on Tuesday evening. Last week the Hawkeyes were fourth in the CFP poll, while the Michigan State Spartans were right on their tails at number 5.

The Big Ten's representative in the College Football Playoff will likely be determined by this weekend's title game, played on Saturday at 7:00.
