Conservation projects under way in Polk County

Posted: Updated:

Conservation projects are moving forward in Polk County thanks to taxpayer-approved funds.

Voters approved the $50 million Water and Land Legacy Bond, and the money has supported 30 projects in parks and natural space.

Polk County Conservation Director Richard Leopold says the funding is even greater because they can also get support from other conservation groups and agencies.

Projects already under way include improvements to parks, including Easter Lake Park, Jester Park and Chichaqua Bottoms Greenbelt.

Money has also gone to add trail connections around the county.
